Ricky SkaggsVenue DI Acoustic Guitar Ricky Skaggs
By the ripe old age of ten, Ricky was one of the rare musicians to have performed with the artists considered the triumvirate of bluegrass...Bill Monroe, Flatt and Scruggs and the Stanley Brothers. 'I met Bill Monroe when I was six and played onstage with him by request of someone in the audience. That was the first installment into my life of music...I got infected that night. Read More »

Sturgill SimpsonLyric Acoustic Guitar Microphone Sturgill Simpson
Nashville sounds like Nashville again on High Top Mountain, the debut release from singer-songwriter Sturgill Simpson. From furious honky-tonk and pre-outlaw country-rocking to spellbinding bluegrass pickin’ and emotional balladry, the album serves as a one-stop guide to everything that made real country music such a force to be reckoned with. Read More »

Donavon FrankenreiterDonavon Frankenreiter
To create his fifth full-length album Start Livin’, Hawaii-based singer/guitarist/songwriter Donavon Frankenreiter holed up in a Southern California studio for seven days with his longtime bassist Matt Grundy—and no one else. The follow-up to 2010’s Glow, Start Livin’ is a nine-track selection of folk-infused songs that sweetly reflect the simplicity of their recording. With its smooth showcasing of Frankenreiter’s rich, honey-thick vocals and masterful guitar work, Start Livin’ bears all the intimacy of an impromptu back-porch performance and the tenderness of a treasured love letter. Read More »

The Devil Makes ThreeThe Devil Makes Three
With a slightly punky perspective on vintage American blues, The Devil Makes Three is a breath of fresh musical air on its eponymous Milan debut. Laced with elements of ragtime, country, folk and rockabilly, the critically praised, drummer-less trio – consisting of guitarist/frontman Pete Bernhard, stand-up bassist Lucia Turino and guitarist Cooper McBean – brings forth a genuine approach to acoustic music that is deeply steeped in rhythm. Read More »

Mariachi El BronxMariachi El Bronx
Born out of a desire to challenge themselves musically, Mariachi El Bronx is the alter ego of Los Angeles punk band the Bronx. Conceived in 2006, the idea came about when the Bronx were asked to play an acoustic set and, rather than simply pare down their sound, they took their music in a whole new direction, moving away from hardcore and exploring Latin sounds. Read More »

Bob MinnerBob Minner
The word “guitar” seems to be inseparable from guitarist, songwriter, & producer Bob Minner. Having played guitar for 40 of his 46 years, you could say that it has imbedded itself in the very core of his being. “I have a picture of me at 20 months old with a plastic guitar in hand, so I guess it was inevitable. I have always heard it in my head though, for as long as I can remember” Bob says. Read More »
